PlayStation Phone

While still unannounced, enough pictures and videos have leaked to confirm this thing is real. The Android-based phone will test the limits of gaming on mobile devices. We haven’t seen this much excitement for a phone since the iPhone 4. The PlayStation Phone could very well be the most popular Android phone of 2011.

Night Vision Camera Brings Color to the Night

AIST Night Vision Camera Brings Color to the Night

So security cameras aren’t all that sexy and night visions is old news, right? That’s not what some smart cookie at AIST thought. The company recently rolled out a full color night vision camera. It’s the first of it’s kind to be commercially available (and fairly cheap considering).
The camera uses a special proprietary algorithm to convert non-visible light into the visible color spectrum that we can see with our eyes. Normally night visions cameras turn everything green but this version converts those neon colors into near-true color.

The company demonstrated the camera with a rotating Bullwinkle toy (yeah, the moose) and though the image wasn’t exactly crystal clear you could clearly see the various colors on the bobble.
This could really open up a whole new realm in the security market, aide police in catching the bad guys, and give them military yet another leg up on enemy combatants. However, it could just as easily turn into a “toy” that you’d find in high-end children’s Christmas present a year or two from now.
Perhaps the coolest part about this camera is the compact size. Unlike previous generations of low-light technology, this piece of equipment relies on software not hardware for the quantum leap. Will the iPad 3 have a full color night vision camera attached? Probably not, but I would be surprised if you saw this gimmick in other consumer electronics in the near future.

Allerta inPulse Bluetooth Smartwatch

Allerta inPulse Bluetooth Smartwatch Keeps You Connected

It seems like everyone and their grandmothers are coming out with new smartwatches with all kinds of cool functions like .mp3 capabilities and WiFi but the Allerta inPulse Bluetooth watch takes things to the next level. In addition to telling the time, this smartwatch allows users to access an android app that allows them to check in to Facebook Places.
The software was created by Lead Designer Eric Migicovsky. It’s simple and easy to implement (if you want the code you’ll have to go to inPulse’s website and get it yourself.)

The watch itself will cost you $149, which—considering all the cool thing s it does—is actually a bargain. So what else can it do? Pretty much anything you want it to. The watch actually has a proprietary SDK which allows users to create code in C to customize what exactly the face of the watch (an OLED display, no less) displays. Some examples Allerta throws out there are sports scores, server ping times, even weather.
But you don’t have to do all the coding yourself. The crew at inPulse have created several samples from which you can branch out and create your own customized software. There’s also a developer’s forum on which you’ll find all kinds of free code, advice, and support from fellow watch hackers!
Hardware-wise, the watch packs a 1.3 inch 96 X 128 pixel full color displayand 32kb of onboard storage for your programs. It also has 8 kb of RAM and a vibrator so you can set your alarms to silent mode if you want to be sneaky. You’ll also get a 150mAh lithium-ion polymer battery (that charges via microUSB) which will keep you running for up to four days of normal use.
Head over to inPulse to learn more or order your Bluetooth watch today.

iPad 2

 iPad 2

As you might have guessed, this is one of those stories that we have to report on, simply because we are a tech blog. I’m sure that most of you already know that Steve Jobs made the big announcement that the iPad 2 is on its way. Hit the jump to see what you haven’t heard.
Most of the announcement confirmed rumors. It will have the cameras, both front and back facing. Steve also promised some nice Photo Booth software as well as Facetime.
The iPad 2 is 33 percent thinner than the original, and lighter at 1.3 pounds (original was 1.5 pounds). Also on the inside is the new A5 chip that will bring graphics 9 times as fast as the original, with a CPU speed that is twice as fast. The same gyroscope that resides on the inside of the iPod Touch and iPhone will also be inside the iPad 2. As for the battery life, it will be a 10 hours, with over a month of standby.
The shipping date for the iPad 2 is quite immediate at March 11th. The price will be the same as the original, and it will come in black and white.
Of course, Steve Jobs did not just announce just the iPad 2, but he announced the Smart Cover, an accessory that magnetically sticks to the front of the iPad 2. He also announced an HDMI out cable, not to mention lots of new Apps, and iOS 4.3.

Flexdex illuminated skateboards

Flexdex illuminated skateboards

These days, pretty much anything can be made to look cool with the application of some LED lighting. Of course, some might think that this tech is too “flashy”.
Whatever your viewpoint, I suppose that we have the renewed success of Tron and the long-awaited sequel Tron Legacy to thank for this LED accessorizing. We covered some gaming controllers from PDP that looked quite cool with them, so why not skateboards?
This is why Flexdex made of translucent wheels, a clear as glass polycarbonate frame, and strips of LED lights that need to be powered by 9-volt batteries.

Verbatim Wireless Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard for iPad and iPhone

by Edwin - on March 4th, 2011
The iPhone and iPad are pretty darn fine devices in their own right, otherwise how else are you able to explain the phenomenal sales figures of both, alongside frenzied lines that form with the release of each device, what more the iPad 2? This just goes to show how popular Apple products are throughout the world, and that is certainly an opportunity for other third party accessory manufacturers to churn out accessories to go with your iOS-powered devices.
Verbatim, being a name that is more often than not associated with storage devices, are now back with their Wireless Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard for both the iPad and iPhone. Makes perfect sense, and chances are business oriented folks will be picking this up since they would most probably find it to be rather challenging to churn out a business document in record time using nothing but a touchscreen display interface and virtual keyboard.
Shipping to retailers nationwide, the Wireless Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard for iPad and iPhone was specially designed to work with Bluetooth-enabled iPads and iPhones. Coming in an extremely slim form factor, this foldable keyboard will be able to deliver a far more familiar typing method to both iPad and iPhone users, as it makes it a whole lot easier to compose e-mails and other important documents using their touchscreen devices.
Apart from that, the keyboard’s media console can also play, pause and control iTunes music directly without missing a beat. As mentioned earlier, its form factor makes it a snap to tote around, and when folded, you can stuff it in just about any pants pocket. Each $79.99 purchase will be accompanied by a premium carrying case and iPhone stand, where the latter is a snap to slide away and stored into the keyboard body itself, doubling up as a convenient way of doing things while offering protection simultaneously.
Just make sure you have enough AAA batteries to go along with the Wireless Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard.
